“Space Seed” is a first-season episode (#24) of Star Trek: The Original Series,
that was first broadcast on Thursday, February 16, 1967. It introduced the popular
villain Khan Noonien Singh, played Ricardo Montalbán. The 1982 film Star Trek ll:
The Wrath of Khan serves as a sequel to this episode.

    Lorne Greene (February 12, 1915 – September 11, 1987)

Greene was a Canadian actor and musician who is best known for his
television roles as Ben Cartwright on the NBC-TV series Bonanza from
1959 to 1973 and as Commander Adama on the the ABC-TV series
Battlestar Galactica, 1978 to 1979.

Lorne Green gave up a career in chemical engineering and, upon
graduation from college, found a job as a radio broadcaster for the
Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC)

Born Creighton Tull Chaney, Lon Chaney was best known for his
roles in monster movies and as the son of famous silent film actor,
Lon Chaney. He portrayed Larry Talbot in The Wolf Man movies
and Lennie Small in Of Mice and Man (1939)

SCIFI PIONEER BORN ON THIS DAY IN 1828

           Jules Gabriel Verne (February 8, 1828 – March 24, 1905)

French author Jules Verne is best known for his novels Twenty Thousand
Leagues Under the Sea (1870), A Journey to the Center of the Earth (1864),
and Around the World in Eighty Days (1873). He wrote about space, air, and
underwater travel before the invention of such means of transportation. Jules
Verne is often referred to as the “Father of Science Fiction”. Some of his books
have been made into live-action and animated films and TV shows.

The career of John Towner Williams spans almost six decades, composing
some of the most recognizable film scores in the history of motion pictures, 
including the Star Wars Saga, Jaws, Indiana Jones film series, E.T. the Extra- 
Terrestrial,
and Jurassic Park. He has composed the music for all but two of 
Steven Spielberg’s major feature films.
