MAGAZINE LAUNCHED ON THIS DAY IN 1953
Hugh Hefner published the first "Playboy" magazine with an investment
of $7,600. Marilyn Monroe was the cover girl. The first issue (above)
was undated, as Hefner was unsure there would be a second. The
initial magazine was produced in his Hyde park kitchen.
