Sting (Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner) is 67 years old today.

Multi-instrumentalist and singer for The Police, Sting is known for such
hits as "Don’t Stand So Close to Me" and "Message in a Bottle." He also
became a successful solo artist, releasing his first album The Dream of
the Blue Turtles in 1985, followed by ten more albums within the next
two decades.

On this day in 1965, U.S. President Johnson (center) signed into law Social Security Act that established Medicare and Medicaid. It went

The Black Tom explosion on July 30, 1916, in Jersey City, New Jersey, was an
act of sabotage by German agents to destroy American-made munitions that
were to be supplied to the Allies in World War I.

The USS Indianapolis was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine on
this day in 1945. The ship had just delivered key components of the Hiroshima atomic bomb to the Pacific island of Tinian. Only 316 out
of 1,196 men aboard survived the attack.

Henry Ford was an American industrialist and a business
magnate, the founder of the Ford Motor Company, and the
sponsor of the development of the assembly line technique
of mass production.

Actor Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger is 71 years old today.

Bodybuilder, actor, and politician who served as the governor of California
from 2003 to 2011. His best known films include Conan the Barbarian (1982) 
Predator (1987) The Terminator series (beginning in 1984) and Total Recall
(1990). In 1996 he portrayed Howard Langston in the holiday comedy film

England on this day in 1978. She had been conceived through
in-vitro fertilization.

William Ben Hogan (August 13, 1912 – July 25, 1997)

Professional golfer Ben Hogan is generally considered to be one of the
greatest players in the history of the game. He is one of only five golfers
to have won all four major championships. Hogan died in Fort Worth,
Texas on July 25, 1997 at the age of 84, and is interred at Greenwood
Memorial Park there.

On this day in 1975, "A Chorus Line" debuted at the Shubert
Theatre on Broadway. The show closed in 1990 after 6,137
performances.

Myron Leon "Mike" Wallace (May 9, 1918 – April 7, 2012)

Media personality Mike Wallace was a journalist, and game show
host. He interviewed a wide range of prominent newsmakers during
his seven decade career. He was one of the original correspondents
for CBS‘ 60 Minutes, which debuted in 1968. Wallace retired as a
regular full-time correspondent in 2006, but appeared occasionally
on the television series until 2008.

William Martin Joel is 69 years old today. He was born
in The Bronx, New York City.

Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter and pianist Billy
Joel gained fame for his song "Piano Man" and became the
third best-selling solo artist in the United States.

From 1973 to 2013, he wrote 33 top forty hits, including "Just
the Way You Are," which hit #3 in 1977.

He learned boxing to defend himself from bullies, and won 22
bouts in the amateur Golden Gloves circuit. He played the
piano at bars to help support his mother while in high school.
