SS Andrea Doria was an ocean liner for the Italian Line
(Società di navigazione Italia) home-ported in Genoa, Italy,
most famous for her sinking on this day in 1956, when 46
people died. Andrea Doria was approaching the coast of
Nantucket, Massachusetts, bound for New York City, the
Eastbound MS Stockholm of the Swedish American Line
collided with it in one of history’s most infamous maritime
disasters.

Quentin Jerome Tarantino is 56 years old today.
Director, producer, and screenwriter Quentin Tarantino first
received acclaim for his 1990s crime films Reservoir Dogs,
Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown. He later went on to direct the
action films Kill Bill: Volume 1, Kill Bill: Volume 2, Inglourious
Basterds and Django Unchained. He dropped out of Narbonne
High School his freshman year to go to acting school.
Stewart Sanders Adams (1923 – January 30 2019)
A world-renowned chemist who helped develop the painkiller ibuprofen while working at Boots has died at the age of 95.
Dr Stewart Adams, born in Northamptonshire, England left school aged 17 and started a pharmacist apprenticeship at a Boots branch in Cambridgeshire.
He went on to study pharmacy at the University of Nottingham and began
work at Boots Pure Drug Company in 1952.
It was the following year his work began researching substances which
could have a pain-killing effect on rheumatoid arthritis.

(Fox News) – Penny Marshall, who starred in "Laverne & Shirley," has
died. A publicist for Marshall told Fox News that the actress died
"peacefully at her Hollywood Hills home" from complications due to
diabetes on Monday.
