SINGER JACK ELY IS 70 YEARS OLD TODAY

Guitarist and singer Ely is best known for singing The Kingsmen‘s
version of "Louie Louie". Born in Portland, Oregon, he attended
Washington High School and Portland State University. Jack is
currently residing in Terrebonne, Oregon.

The 100J Dual Music System Jukebox was introduced by the J.P. Seeburg
Corporation of Chicago. It held 50, 45 RPM records and was the first 100
selection machine.
KFC FOUNDER BORN ON THIS DAY IN
Colonel Harland David Sanders
(September 9, 1890 – December 16, 1980)
Since his death, Sanders has been portrayed by voice actors in
Kentucky Fried Chicken commercials in radio and an animated
version of him has been used for television commercials.
COMIC STRIP DEBUTED ON THIS DAY IN 1930
The comic strip Blondie was created by cartoonist Chic Young and distributed by
King Features Syndicate. The success of the strip led to a long-running Blondie
film series (1938–1950) and the popular Blondie radio program (1939–1950).
Chic Young drew Blondie until his death in 1973, when creative control passed
to his son Dean Young, who continues to write the strip. Young has collaborated
with a number of artists on Blondie, including Mike Gersher, and Stan Drake. The
strip has been translated in 35 languages and appears in more than 2,000 papers
in 47 countries.
