The TVSpecial "The Frank Sinatra Timex Special – Welcome Home Elvis”
was recorded on March 26th 1960 for the May 12 broadcast. It was the
first televised appearance of Elvis since coming home from his military
service
in Germany. The show was recorded in Black and White, since
ABC-TV didn’t start using until 1962.

ACTOR BORN ON THIS DAY IN 1901


Gary Cooper (born Frank James Cooper in Helena, Montana)
(May 7, 1901 – May 13, 1961)

Cooper became famous for playing Marshall Will Kane in “High Noon”
(1952). He also played roles in “Mr. Deeds Goes to Town” (1936), and 
“The Pride of the Yankees” (1942). Before fame, he managed a ranch
and worked as a newspaper cartoonist in Montana.
