movie appearance and Groucho’s last. The film was produced by
former silent film star Mary Pickford and released by United Artists.
REMEMBERING JAMES CAGNEY
James Francis Cagney, Jr. (July 17, 1899 – March 30, 1986)
Cagney was an actor, first on stage, then in film, where he had his
greatest impact. He won acclaim and major awards for a wide variety
of performances, but he is best remembered for his tough guy roles.
In 1999, the American Film Institute ranked James Cagney eighth
among its 50 Greatest American Screen Legends.
ACTOR DONALD SOUTHERLAND IS 78 TODAY
Southerland’s career spans nearly 50 years with notable movie
roles such as the offbeat soldiers in popular war movies such as
The Dirty Dozen (1967), MASH (1970) and Kelly’s Heroes (1970)
and other films include Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978),
JFK (1991), and Space Cowboys (2000).
Donald is the father of actor Kiefer Southerland. All four of his
sons are named after directors that he worked with.
