ED AMES NOW 

Ed Ames is a singer and actor who was part of the popular 1950s singing group
called The Ames Brothers. When the group disbanded in 1960, Ed pursued a
career in acting. His first starring role was in an off Broadway production of Arthur
Miller’s The Crucible. His greatest success on stage came with his portrayal of
Chief Bromden in the Broadway production of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, opposite Kirk Douglas.Talent scouts saw Ed’s stage performance and invited him
to play the Native American Mingo on the NBC-TV series Daniel Boone starring
Fess Parker. The show aired from 1964 to 1970. 

          

 

While playing Mingo on television, Ames developed some skill in throwing
a tomahawk. This led to one of the most memorable moments of his career,
when he appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson on April
29, 1965.

Tom Hanks is a actor, producer, writer, and director. He gained wide notice
in the 1988 film Big. Other films by Hank’s include Forrest Gump (1994),
Apollo 13 (1995), Saving Private Ryan (1998) and Cast Away (2000). He
did the voicing for the character Woody in the Toy Story franchise (1995,
1999, and 2010). Tom won consecutive Best Actor Academy Awards, in
1993 for Philadelphia and in 1994 for Forrest Gump. He is the father of
actor Colin Hanks.

Actress Janet Leigh was born Jeanette Helen Morrison. She was the wife of actor
Tony Curtis from June 1951 to September 1962 and the mother of Kelly Curtis
and Jamie Lee Curtis. Discovered by actress Norma Shearer, Leigh secured a
contract with MGM and began her film career in the late 1940s. She appeared
in several popular films over the following decade, including Alfred Hitchcock’s
1960 film Psycho.

 Sylvester Gardenzio Stallone is a actor, filmmaker, screenwriter, film director
and occasional painter. Stallone is known for his macho action roles. Two of
the notable characters he has portrayed include boxer Rocky Balboa in the
Rocky series (1976,1979,1982,1985,1990 and 2006) and the title role as
soldier John Rambo in the Rambo franchise films (1982,1985,1988,2008).

The film Rocky was inducted into the National Film Registry as well as having
its film props placed in the Smithsonian Museum.  Philadelphia has a statue of
his Rocky character placed permanently near the museum, on the right side
before the steps. It was announced on December 7, 2010 that Stallone was
voted into boxing’s Hall of Fame.
