Isaac Donald "Don" Everly and his brother Phil were country-influenced
rock and roll singers known as The Everly Brothers, Don Everly died
January 3, 2014. They were elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
in 1986 and the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2001.
 

Written by Don Everly, the original version of this song was released 
in 1959 and peaked at number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100. Chet Atkins
played the electric guitar on the recording.

ROD McKUEN HAS DIED AT 81

Rodney Marvin "Rod" McKuen
(April 29, 1933 – January 29, 2015)

Rod McKuen was one of the best-selling poets in the United States during
the late 1960s. Throughout his career, McKuen produced a wide range of
recordings, which included popular music, spoken word poetry, classical
music and film soundtracks. He earned two Oscar nominations and one
Pulitzer nomination for his serious music compositions. He died today of
respiratory arrest, a result of pneumonia, at a hospital in Beverly Hills,
California.

"I Fought the Law" was written by Sonny Curtis of the Crickets and
became a top-ten hit for The Bobby Fuller Four in 1966. It made
No. 175 on the Rolling Stone list of The 500 Greatest Songs of
All Time
in 2004, and the same year was named one of the 500
"Songs that Shaped Rock" by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Netherlands

Eddie Van Halen co-founded the rock band Van Halen. He was
joined in the band by Alex Van Halen, Wolfgang Van Halen, David
Lee Roth
and Michael Anthony. He is ranked #8 on Rolling Stone’s
list of Top 100 Guitarists.

Danny And The Juniors Rock ‘n’ Roll classic "At The Hop" was originally written
as "Do the Bop", American Bandstand host Dick Clark suggested the group re-
write the lyrics because the dance known as The Bop was on its way out. Clark
was right and the quartet’s record stayed in the top spot for a month.
