National Vinyl Record Day is an annual event to celebrate the history and enjoyment of listening to music on vinyl records.
Gary Freiberg of Los Osos, California founded
National Vinyl Record day in 2002.
Thomas Edison invented the phonograph in
1877 and Freiberg encourages everyone to
remember fond memories and the good things
in life, especially vinyl records.
1950’s
On August 10, 1939, The Wizard of Oz, starring Judy Garland
and featuring words and music by E.Y. “Yip” Harburg and
Harold Arlen, received its world premiere in Green Bay,
Wisconsin. It opened widely in U.S. theaters some two
weeks later.
The musician, actor, film producer and Rolling Stones front
man Mick Jagger was born in Dartford, Kent, England on
July 26, 1943. He’s 82 years old today.
John Michael "Ozzy" Osbourne

The heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne has died, just weeks after
his "Back to the Beginning" farewell concert where he played
in front of a sold-out farewell show in England.
He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in February 2019
and In 2020, Osbourne also revealed that he had the smoking-
induced lung condition, emphysema.
A family statement confirmed he was surrounded by his family
at the time of his death.

Connie Francis (Concetta Rosa Maria Franconero)
(December 12, 1937 – July 16, 2025)
(Hollywood Reporter) - Pop singer Connie Francis died
Wednesday. A cause of death has not been revealed,
but Francis had been hospitalized earlier this month
after experiencing what she described as "extreme pain."
She underwent a series of tests and examinations while
in intensive care and was later transferred to a private
room.
