RELEASED ON THIS DAY IN 1967

The song “I Second That Emotion” peaked for three weeks 
at #4 on the Billboard pop singles chart in December 1967.

It became the Miracles highest charting popular single since
"Shop Around" and also topped the Billboard Black Singles
Chart
and was a million-seller hit for The Miracles, their sixth

"Chuck" Berry is 90 today.

Chuck Berry performed for the first time at Sumner High School. He
became immortalized for songs such as "Roll Over Beethoven," which
reached #29 on the Billboard Top 100 chart.

According to authorities, Berry stole a car at gunpoint and was sent to
the Intermediate Reformatory for Young Men at Algoa from 1944 to
1947. He was among the first musicians to be inducted into the Rock
and Roll Hall of
Fame
on its opening in 1986.

2015

The Bob White Theater was built in 1924 and has had many lifetimes. It was home
to epic Russ Meyer films for years, country music themed films, then Vietnamese language films. In its final days, it was the residence and workshop of a restorer
and collector of pipe organs.

NUMBER-ONE ON THIS DAY IN 1970

The song “I’ll Be There” was The Jackson 5’s fourth number one
hit in a row making them the first black male group to achieve four
consecutive number one pop hits. "I’ll Be There" is also notable as
the most successful single released by Motown during its "Detroit
era" (1959–72).
