CANCER TAKES OPERA SINGER AT AGE 85

NEW YORK (AP) — Joanna Simon, an acclaimed mezzo-soprano,
Emmy-winning TV correspondent and one of the three singing
Simon sisters who include pop star Carly, has died.  

Simon, the eldest of four, died Wednesday, just a day before her
sister Lucy died, according to Lucy’s daughter, Julie Simon.

Their brother Peter, a photographer, died in 2018 at 71. All three
had cancer.

Jerry Lee Lewis was not the only early rock-and-roller from a
strict Christian background who struggled to reconcile his
religious beliefs with the moral implications of the music he
created. He may have been the only one to have one of his
religious crises caught on tape, however—in between takes
on one of his legendary hit songs. It was on October 8, 1957,
that bible-school dropout Jerry Lee Lewis laid down the
definitive version of “Great Balls Of Fire,” amidst a losing
battle with his conscience and with the legendary Sam
Phillips, head of Sun Records.

Jody Miller (November 29, 1941 – October 6, 2022)

(Fox News) – "Queen of the House" country singer Jody Miller has
died.

Miller died on Thursday in Blanchard, Oklahoma, from complications related to Parkinson’s disease, Fox News Digital confirmed.

Miller’s first single "He Walks Like a Man" hit the Billboard Hot 100
chart in 1964. She went on to win a
Grammy Award for one of her
biggest hits, "Queen of the House," the following year.
