REMEMBERING NELSON EDDY
Nelson Ackerman Eddy (June 29, 1901 – March 6, 1967)
Eddy was a singer and actor who appeared in 19 musical films
during the 1930s and 1940s, eight of them were with Jeanette
MacDonald. He also sang in opera, on the concert stage and
radio and television. For a time he was the highest paid singer
in the country, with three stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
New Moon, 1940, based on Sigmund Romberg‘s 1927 Broadway hit,
became one of Eddy’s most popular films.

ESTHER WILLIAMS HAS DIED AT 91
Esther Jane Williams (August 8, 1921 – June 6, 2013)
(AP) – Esther Williams, the swimming champion turned actress who starred
in glittering and aquatic Technicolor musicals of the 1940s and 1950s, has
died.
Williams’s died early Thursday in her sleep, according to Harlan Ball, her
longtime publicist.
