ACTOR HAS DIED AT AGE 75


Barry Francis Jenner (January 14, 1941 – August 9, 2016)

Character actor Barry Jenner, best known for his pivotal role as Admiral
William Ross on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" and with credits including
recurring roles on "Dallas," "Knott’s Landing," "Family Matters" and many
others, died on August 9. Hailing from Philadelphia, PA, Jenner’s career 
kicked off in the 1970s with roles on TV soap operas.

Jenner is remembered as one of the series’ most important supporting
actors who was a popular figure on the convention circuit. Berry Jenner
is survived by his wife, Suzanne Hunt. (FOXNEWS)

SPORTS BROADCASTER HAS DIED AT 61


John Peterson Saunders (February 2, 1955 – August 10, 2016)

(AP) – ESPN announced today that sportscaster John Saunders, who has
hosted "The Sports Reporters" for the last 15 years, has died. A cause of
death was not announced.

Saunders joined ESPN in 1986. He did play-by-play on various sports, 
hosted NHL Stanley Cup Final coverage and World Series coverage
and hosted studio shows for baseball, college football and college
basketball.

Saunders took over as host of "The Sports Reporters," a Sunday
morning staple of ESPN programming, after Dick Schaap died in
2001. Saunders played the role of calm traffic cop on the panel
show that features three sports journalists volleying opinions on
the top sports news of the day.

FAMOUS CLARINETIST HAS DIED AT 86


Pete Fountain (Pierre Dewey LaFontaine, Jr.)
(July 3, 1930 – August 6, 2016)

(FOXNEWS) – Clarinetist Pete Fountain, whose Dixieland jazz virtuosity and
irrepressible wit endeared him to his native New Orleans and earned him
decades of national television fame, died Saturday of heart failure.

Benny Harrell, Fountain’s son-in-law and manager, said Fountain was in
hospice care in New Orleans when he died early Saturday.

CHARACTER ACTOR HAS DIED AT 85


David William Huddleston (September 17, 1930 – August 2, 2016)

LOS ANGELES (AP) –  David Huddleston, a character actor best known for
portraying titular roles in "The Big Lebowski" and "Santa Claus: The Movie,"
has died.

Huddleston’s wife, Sarah C. Koeppe, said he died Tuesday of advanced heart
and kidney disease in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Huddleston famously portrayed the blustery millionaire whose identity Jeff
Bridges’ character is mistaken for in the 1998 cult comedy film "The Big
Lebowski."

Other credits in his 55-year-long career include the films "Blazing Saddles,"
”The Producers" and "Santa Claus: The Movie," as well as such TV series
as "The West Wing," ”Gilmore Girls" and "The Wonder Years."

Huddleston was born in 1930 in Vinton, Virginia. He served as an aircraft
engine mechanic in the U.S. Air Force before studying acting in New York.

ACTRESS GLORIA DeHAVEN DIES AT 91


Gloria Mildred DeHaven (July 23, 1925 – July 30, 2016)

Gloria DeHaven was a actress and singer who was a contract star for Metro-
Goldwyn-Mayer
. Despite many featured roles, she never achieved movie
stardom. She began her career as a child actor with a bit part in Charlie
Chaplin
‘s Modern Times (1936. DeHaven died Saturday in Las Vegas, one
week after her 91st birthday.
