BROADCAST DEBUT ON THIS DAY IN 1929
Gertrude Berg (born Tillie Edelstein) played Molly
Goldberg
The Goldbergs is a domestic comedy-drama featuring
the home life of a Jewish family living in the Bronx. The
program was devised by writer-actress Gertrude Berg
who also starred as the lovingly meddlesome matriarch
Molly Goldberg. The 15-minute program was broadcast
from 1929 to 1946, first on NBC, later moving to CBS in
1936.
THE LAST EPISODE OF THE LONE RANGER

The last original episode of The Lone Ranger was broadcast September 3, 1954
and transcribed repeats of the 1952–53 episodes continued to be aired on ABC
until June 24, 1955. The cowboy hero first appeared in January of 1933 in a
radio show aired over WXYZ in Detroit, Michigan. The title character was played
by George Seaton, Earle Graser, and Brace Beemer.
TV SERIES DEBUT ON THIS DAY IN 1949
William Gargan, Lloyd Nolan, Lee Tracy, and Mark Stevens played the title role in
Martin Kane, Private Eye on live television, airing on the NBC Television Network
from 1 September 1949 until 17 June 1954. The TV series, as with radio, was also
sponsored by United States Tobacco Company,
