to go to the number-one position on the Billboard Hot 100 pop
singles
chart, a position it held for two weeks, from August 16
to August 29, 1964. It was also the first of five Supremes songs
in a row to reach number one.

BUDDY HOLLY’S FIRST POSTHUMOUS HIT

Buddy Holly‘s "It Doesn’t Matter Anymore" hit #13 on the Billboard  Hot
100 on April 4,1959, It was his first posthumous hit following his tragic
death in a plane crash on February 3. The single was a double- sided 
hit, backed with “Raining in My Heart”.
