PREMIERE OF SITCOM ON THIS DATE IN 1961

Hazel
is a Screen Gems television sitcom series the follows the life a fictional live-
in maid named Hazel Burke (Shirley Booth) and her employers, the Baxters. The
five-season, 154-episode series aired in primetime from Thursday September 28,
1961 until September 5, 1966. The first four seasons aired on NBC-TV and were sponsored by the Ford Motor Company. The show was based on a popular single
panel comic strip (below) by cartoonist Ted Key that appeared in the Saturday
Evening Post.
