Shelley Winters

Shelley Winters was a actress who appeared in dozens of films, as well as
on stage and television; her career spanned over 50 years until her death
in 2006. A two-time Academy Award winner, Winters is probably most known
for her roles in A place in the Sun (1951), The Night of the Hunter (1955),
and The Poseidon Adventure(1972).

One of the main turning points in popular music history was the Woodstock
Music & Art Fair, a music festival, billed as “An Aquarian Exposition: 3 days
of Peace & Music”. It was held at a 600-acre dairy farm located in the Catskills
near the town of Bethel, New York. Originally scheduled to run from August 15
to the August 17, 1969, it ran over to the 18th. A crowd of 500,000 concert-
goers saw thirty-two acts including Jimi Hendrix, The Who,Joan Baez, Janis
Joplin, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Santana perform during the
sometimes rainy weekend. The event was listed among Rolling Stone’s
50 Moments That Changed the History of Rock and Roll.

ONE OF ‘THE KINGS’ LAST HITS

For the weeks of October 21 and 28, 1972, "Burning Love" rose to #2
on the Billboard Hot 100. However, it reached #1 on Cashbox’s top 40
charts for the week of November 11, which gave him 20 US #1 hits. It
was Elvis’s 40th and last Top Ten hit on the US charts. It was also one
of the last real rock songs in the last years of his life; from 1972-1977.

ETHEL BARRYMORE

Ethel Barrymore was a member of the famous Barrymore family of actors. She
was the sister of actors John Barrymore and Lionel Barrymore, and the great-
aunt of actress Drew Barrymore. Ethel Barrymore was a highly regarded stage
actress in New York City and a major Broadway performer. Many today consider
her to be the greatest actress of her generation.

JOE E. BROWN ~

                     (July 28, 1891 – July 6, 1973)

Joseph Evans Brown was a popular actor and comedian. In 1902 at the
age of nine, he joined a troupe of circus tumblers known as the Five
Marvelous Ashtons which toured the country on both the circus and
vaudeville circuits. Later he became a professional baseball player. After
three seasons he returned to the circus, then went into Vaudeville and
finally starred on Broadway. He gradually added comedy into his act and
transformed himself into a comedian. He moved to Broadway in the 1920s
first appearing in the musical comedy Jim Jam Jems.
