The Beatles made their first appearance on television in a film clip shown
on the "Jack Paar Show”, January 3, 1964. It was a performance of the
song "She Loves You." Paar showed the film clips of The Beatles one
month before their famous live appearance on the The Ed Sullivan Show.

Stephen Valentine Patrick William "Steve" Allen
(December 26, 1921 – October 30, 2000)
Allen is best remembered as the first host of The Tonight Show on
NBC from 1954 to 1957. He innovated the concept of the television
talk show.
TALK SHOW DEBUTED ON THIS DAY IN 1967
The Phil Donahue Show, also known as Donahue, is a television talk
show hosted by Phil Donahue that ran for 26 years on national TV. Its
run was preceded by three years of local broadcast over WLWD in
Dayton, Ohio beginning in 1967. It was broadcast in syndication
nationwide between 1970 and 1996. In 2002, Donahue was ranked
twenty-ninth on TV Guide magazine’s list of the fifty greatest
television shows of all-time.
