Thanks to her part on “Cheers,” Shelley Long became a household name, thanks to her vivacious looks and energetic acting. She made
the jump to movies in classic films such as “Night Shift”(1982) and
“The Money Pit”(1986).

CHRISTMAS STORY HOUSE IS UP FOR SALE

(FOX NEWS) – The house from the film "A Christmas Story"(2007)
has officially been put up for sale in Cleveland, Ohio.

The sale in its entirety makes up 1.3 acres of property, according
to a listing posted Monday on achristmasstoryhouse.com.

Chad Whitmer, the listing agent from the Northeast Ohio-based commercial real estate company Hoff and Leigh, said the listing
includes the house, the Bumpus house, the gift shop, museum
and a number of vacant lots that have been acquired by the
home’s current owner over the years.

Carl and Ada Zimmerman leased a one-room country store
(above) from Edward and Minnie Aylsworth in 1938 and purchased it in 1943, remodeling and expanding it into the
area’s first supermarket.
 

The store closed in 2001 and the building was demolished
in 2005 when Weston Buick Pontiac GMC and Kia built a
new showroom and dealership in its place (below).

CAPITOL CORNERSTONE LAID ON THIS DAY

On September 18, 1793, George Washington laid the cornerstone
to the United States Capitol building, the home of the legislative
branch of American government. The building would take nearly
a century to complete, as architects came and went, the British
set fire to it and it was called into use during the
Civil War.
