Comedian, Actor, and director Carl Reiner is known for his appearances
with Sid Caesar on Your Show of Shows on NBC from 1950 to 1954. He
has won nine Emmy Awards and one Grammy Award during his career.

Before fame, Reiner, who is the father of Rob Reiner, worked as a sewing
machine repairman. He has been described as being one of the oldest
celebrities active on Twitter.

Bob Hope

The Academy Awards ceremony made appeared on television for the first time 
with 34 million viewers in front of their TV sets. NBC-TV’s broadcast of the 25th 
Annual Academy Awards featured ceremonies held in both Hollywood and New 
York City
. Bob Hope hosted the main festivities (above) held at RKO Pantages
Theater in Hollywood, while Conrad Nagel led a smaller ceremony at the NBC
International Theater in Manhattan.

The circus drama “The Greatest Show on Earth,” directed by 71-year-old 
cinema pioneer Cecil B. DeMille, won Best Picture over the heavily favored
“High Noon,” which featured Best Actor winner Gary Cooper.

Charley Frank Pride was born in Sledge, Mississippi.

Pride is an African American country singer who is responsible
for over thirty #1 singles, including "All I Have to Offer You
(Is Me)" and "I’m Just Me."

Before fame, Charley Pride was a pitcher for the New York  
Yankees’ minor league team. He was inducted into the
Country Music Hall of Fame in 2000.
