THE JACKSONS SHOW DEBUTED ON THIS DATE IN 1976

The Jacksons is a variety show featuring the Jackson siblings, except for
Jermaine who was signed to Motown while the Jackson group was signed
to the CBS record label. It was the first variety show where the entire cast
were siblings. As with the Jackson 5 regular performances, Michael Jackson
was the lead performer in musical and dance performances.The thirty-minute Wednesday evening show began airing on CBS-TV as a summer 1976 show
and it continued into the 1976-1977 season, finishing on March 9, 1977 after
running for 12 episodes.

Hee Haw was a TV variety show featuring country and humor with fictional rural
Kornfield Kounty as a backdrop. It aired on CBS-TV from 1969–1971 before a 20
year run in local syndication. The show was inspired by Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In.
show was inspired by Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In. Hee Haw was co-hosted by singers Buck Owens and Roy Clark (above), the show was equally well-known for its women in farmer’s daughter outfits and country singers like The Hager Brothers, Jim and Jon.

‘’TEXACO STAR THEATER’’ TV DEBUT ON THIS DATE IN 1948

Texaco Star Theater was a comedy-variety show, originally broadcast on
radio from 1938 to 1949. The popular show’s sponsor, Texaco made the  
move to television on June 8, 1948 with host Milton Berle (above). It aired
on NBC till 1956 and is remembered as the show that gave Milton Berle
the nickname "Mr. Television".

JOHNY CASH SHOW DEBUTED ON THIS DATE IN 1969

The Johnny Cash Show was a music variety show hosted by Johnny Cash. The
TV series from Screen Gems ran for 58-episodes from June 7, 1969 to March 31,
1971 on ABC. The show was recorded at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, then home
of the Gand Ole Opry. It reached No. 17 in the Nielsen ratings in 1970. Cash opened each show, and its regulars included members of his touring troupe, his wife June
Carter Cash, the Carter Family, The Statler Brothers, Carl Perkins, and Johnny’s
backing band the Tennessee Three. The show featured many folk-country musicians such as Bob Dylan, Linda Ronstadt, kristofferson, Merle Haggard, and Tammy
Wynette.

Dean Martin was a popular singer,film actor, television star and comedian, best
known for being half of the comedy team, Martin and Lewis (above). Martin’s hit
singles included “Memories Are Made of This” (1956), and “Everybody Loves Somebody” (1964). Nicknamed the “King of Cool”, Martin was one of the 
members of the “Rat Pack” (below).
