The Beatles album introducing…THE BEATLES was released in United States
by the Chicago based VEE-JAY label just ten days prior to the release of
MEET THE BEATLES! by Capital Records. After much legality, VEE-JAY was
allowed to sell their album until late 1964.

HECTOR ELIZONDO TURNED 74 TODAY
Hector is best known for his role as Dr. Phillip Watters on the CBS
TV medical drama Chicago Hope which ran from 1994 to 2000.
SEARS FOUNDER BORN ON THIS DATE IN 1863
R.W. Sears began selling watches to supplement his income
as a railroad station agent. He was so successful the he was
able to quit his railroad job within less than a year and began
selling mail order watches full time. In 1893 Sears took on a
partner and established the corporate name, Sears, Roebuck
& company.
The first Sears catalog was only thirty-two pages and
grew to over a thousand by 1908.

THE NURSERY SCHOOL OF THE AIR
Ding Dong School with Miss Francis(Dr. Frances Horwich) was one of the first children’s TV shows in the early 1950’s. It was before Romper Room, Mr. Rogers and even before Sesame Street. The show was a half-hour production that originated from the studios of WMAQ-TV in Chicago. It aired live on NBC weekdays from November, 1952 to 1956. At one point is was the most popular pre-school series. Those were the simple days!
