RELEASED ON THIS DAY IN 1959

The R&B/pop record "Personality" was recorded by Lloyd Price and 
reached #2 for three weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and became one
of Lloyd Price’s most popular crossover hits. The song was also a #1
R&B hit, maintaining the top spot for four weeks. Billboard ranked it as
the No. 3 song for 1959. 

 


Lloyd Price turned 83 in March.

BORN ON THIS DAY IN 1932


Kemal Amen "Casey" Kasem was born in Detroit, Michigan. 
(April 27, 1932 – June 15, 2014)

Kasem was a famed voice actor and disc jockey of American Top 40. He
provided the voice of Shaggy in the animated Saturday morning cartoon
Scooby-Doo (1969-1997/2002-2009) on CBS/ABC.

was given demerits for his intransigence.

TOMB BUILT ON THIS DAY IN 1897

Grant’s Tomb, now formally known as General Grant National Memorial, is
the final resting place of Ulysses S. Grant (1822–1885), the 18th President
of the United States, and his wife, Julia Dent Grant (1826–1902). Completed
in 1897, the tomb is located in Riverside Park in the Morningside Heights
neighborhood of Upper Manhattan in New York City, across the street from
the monumental Riverside Church. It was placed under the management of
the National Park Service in 1958.
