GIRLS ORGANIZATION FOUNDED ON THIS DATE IN 1910

Camp Fire USA, originally Camp Fire Girls of America, is a nationwide 
youth organization that was founded in Thetford, Vermont, by Luther
Gulick M.D. and his wife Charlotte Vedder Gulick. It was created as
the sister organization to the boy Scouts of America. The name was
changed in 1975 to Camp Fire Boys and Girls when membership
eligibility was expanded to include boys. In 2001, the current
name…Camp Fire USA, was adopted.

COUNTRY SHOW DEBUTED ON THIS DATE IN 1961

five star jubilee

Five Star Jubilee was a country music variety show carried by NBC-TV from
March 17–September 22, 1961. The live program, a spin-off of ABC-TV’s Jubilee
USA, was the first network color television series to originate outside New York
City or Hollywood. It was produced from the Landers Theater (above) in Springfield, Missouri. The series featured five rotating hosts, Snooky Lanson, Tex Ritter, Rex
Allen, Jimmy Wakely, and Carl Smith. The sponsor was Massey Ferguson.

FERLIN HUSKY ~ DEAD AT 85

Ferlin Eugene Husky (December 3, 1925 – March 17, 2011) was a 
singer who became well-known as a country-pop hit maker under
various names, including Terry Preston and Simon Crum. In the 1950s  
and 60s, Husky had several hits, including "Gone" and "Wings of a  
Dove", each reaching number one on the country charts. In 2010, he 
was inducted into the Country music Hall of Fame.

Gary Sinise is well known actor, film director and musician. He has won various
awards during his career. In 1992, Sinise directed, and played the role of George
Milton in the successful film adaptation Of Mice and Men. He was nominated for 
the Academy Award For Best Supporting Actor in 1994 for his role as Lt. Dan
Taylor in Forrest Gump. He won a Golden Globe Award for his role in Truman,
as Harry S. Truman. In 1996, he played a corrupt police officer in the dramatic hit Ransom. In 1998, Sinise was awarded an Emmy for his title role portrayal in the
television film George Wallace. Since 2004, Sinise has starred in CBS’s CSI: NY.
