ERIK ESTRADA IS 62 YEARS OLD TODAY

Henry Enrique "Erik" Estrada is best  known for his co-starring lead role in  
the 1977–1983 NBC television series CHiPs. The show followed the lives
of two motorcycle police officers of the California Highway Patrol. Erik has 
recently made appearances in reality TV shows and infomercials and is a  
regular voice on the Cartoon Network.

FIFTH MAYOR OF PORTLAND ON THIS DATE IN 1854

William Sargent Ladd (October 10, 1826 – January 6, 1893) was a politician and 
businessman in Oregon. He twice served as Mayor of Portland from March 15, 1854
to April 1,1855 and a second term beginning in 1857. He was a prominent figure in the early development of Portland, and co-founded the first bank in Oregon in 1859. Ladd also built the first brick building in the city of Portland. A portion of his former estate, the Ladd Carriage House, was on the National Register of Historic Places until 2008. Ladd arrived in Portland from his native Vermont on April 8, 1851. Originally a Democrat, he became a Republican in 1864 when he supported Abraham Lincoln’s re-election.

HARRY JAMES WAS BORN ON THIS DATE IN 1916

Harry James 

Musician and bandleader, Harry James was an instrumentalist of the swing era. He
was one of the most popular bandleaders of the first half of the 1940s, and he
continued  to lead his band until just before his death, 40 years later. His was the
first "name band" to employ vocalist Frank Sinatra, in 1939. He wanted to change Sinatra’s name to ‘Frankie Satin’ but Sinatra refused. His later band included
drummer Buddy Rich. Harry James was second only to Glenn Miller as the most successful recording artist of 1942.
