OLDEST PERSON TO HAVE A HIT RECORD ON THIS DATE IN 1980

Comedian and actor George Burns become the oldest person at 84 to have a
hit on the Billboard Hot 100 when "I Wish I Was 18 Again" peaked at number
forty-nine. When asked if he wished he were 18 again, Burns replied "I wish I
was 80 again."

Lionel  Hampton (April 20, 1908 – August 31, 2002) was a jazz vibraphonist, 
pianist ,drummer and bandleader. He was one the first jazz vibraphone players
and ranks among the great names in jazz history, having worked with musicians
like Benny Goodman, Buddy Rich, and Charlie Parker. He was inducted into the 
Alabama Jazz hall of Fame in 1992 and received the ‘One of a Kind” Award from
Broadcast Music, Inc. in 1986.

“ANNIE HALL” PREMIERED ON THIS DATE IN 1977

Annie Hall is a 1977 romantic comedy starring and directed by, Woody Allen and  
co-starring Diane Keaton. It is one of Allen’s most popular films and won four 
Academy Awards  including Best Picture. Movie critic Roger Ebert described it 
as “just about everyone’s favorite Woody Allen movie”.

SHIRLEY TEMPLE’S MOVIE DEBUT ON THIS DATE IN 1934

Stand Up and Cheer! is a 1934 musical film directed by Hamilton MacFadden.The screenplay by Lew Brown and Ralph Spence was based upon a story idea by Will Rogers and Philip Klein. The film is about boosting morale in the country during the Great Depression. It was essentially a vehicle for vaudeville acts and a few musical numbers. The movie became Shirley Temple’s breakthrough film. It was promoted
as a Shirley Temple picture, but the child star played a very minor role and had
very little screen time.

RADIO SHOW DEBUTED ON THE DATE IN 1935

till 1955. The first number one song on the initial program was “Soon” sung by
