Singer-songwriter Sonny Curtis was a teenage pal and band member with
the great Buddy Holly in Lubbock, Texas. Although Curtis had gone on the
road with other musicians by the time Buddy formed The Crickets in 1957,
Sonny joined the group after Holly’s untimely death in 1959, and soon took
the lead vocalist role in addition to lead guitar.
