“Sherry” was the first nationally-released single and the first number one hit for
The Four Seasons in September of 1962. It held the top spot for five consecutive
weeks. According to the songs writer, Bob Gaudio, “Sherry” took only about 15
minutes to put on paper and was originally titled “Jackie Baby” in honor of then-
First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy.
