Actress Kate Jackson is best known for her role as Sabrina Duncan in ABC
television series Charlie’s Angels (1976-1981). She is a three-time Emmy
Award nominee in the Best Actress category and has been nominated for
several Golden Globe Awards.

FIRST BALLPOINT PEN SOLD ON THIS DAY IN 1945
The Reynolds Rocket ballpoint pen
Businessman, Milton Reynolds formed the Reynolds International Pen
Company, producing the first ballpoint pens and beating Eversharp to
market. It went on sale at Gimbles department store in New York City
on 29 October 1945 for $9.75 each. This pen was widely known as the
Reynolds Rocket into the late 1950s.
NEWS PROGRAM DEBUTED ON THIS DAY IN 1956
The Huntley-Brinkley Report (known also as The Texaco Huntley-Brinkley Report
for one of its early sponsors) was the flagship evening news program for the NBC
television network from Monday October 29, 1956 until July 31, 1970. The shows
anchors were Chet Huntley in New York City, and David Brinkley in Washington,
D.C. The program succeeded the Camel News Caravan with John Cameron
Swayze. The original news series ran for 15 minutes and expanded to 30
minutes in September of 1963.

#1 ON THIS DAY IN 1966
“96 Tears” was written by Rudy Martinez (Question Mark) and was first
released on the small Pa-Go-Go label. It was soon picked up by Cameo
Records for national distribution. The original issue of the record is quite
rare and is a collectors item. The song is widely-recognized as one of the
first garage band hits and is ranked #210 on the Rolling Stone list of the
500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
