Otis Ray Redding, Jr. (September 9, 1941 – December 10, 1967)
The soul singer-songwriter died when his plane crashed in Lake Monona
during a storm en route to a concert in Madison. That was just three days
after recording “Dock of the Bay”. It became the first posthumous number-
one record on both the Billboard Hot 100 and R&B charts
