FOOD CRITIC BORN ON THIS DAY IN 1880

           Duncan Hines (March 26, 1880 – March 15, 1959)

Duncan Hines was a pioneer of restaurant ratings for travelers and a
newspaper food columnist. He is best known today for the brand of
food products that bears his name. A museum exhibit on the campus
of Western Kentucky University in his hometown of Bowling Green
showcases the life of Duncan Hines.

Diana Ross was the lead singer of the Motown group The Supremes during
the 1960s. She left the group in 1970 to begin a solo career that ventured
into film and Broadway. Ross received a Best Actress Academy Award
nomination in 1972, for her role as Billie Holiday in Lady Sings the Blues,
which she won a Golden Glove award. She won seven American Music
Awards, was honored with a 2012 Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award,
and won a Tony Award for her one- woman show, An Evening with Diana
Ross,
in 1977.

and aired from September 23, 1969, to July 29, 1976. The pilot of the
series titled A Matter of Humanities, aired as an ABC Movie of the Week
on Wednesday, March 26, 1969.

ROCKABILLY SINGER BORN ON THIS DAY IN 1934

John Joseph "Johnny" Burnette
(March 25, 1934 – August 14, 1964)

Johnny Burnette along with his older brother Dorsey Burnette and a friend, Paul
Burlison were members of The Rock and Roll Trio. Burnette drowned in a fishing
boat accident at the age of 30.

on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1960.
