REMEMBER!
FROM THE GOLDEN AGE OF RADIO
"Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar" debuted on CBS Radio as a action packed half-hour detective series on Friday, February 11, 1949. It featured Charles Russell in the
title role as freelance insurance investigator Johnny Dollar. Through the following
years, several actors played the part – including Edmond O’Brien, John Lund,
and Bob Bailey. It aired until September 30, 1962 with a one year hiatus from
1954-1955. The show was sponsored by Wrigley’s Gum.
Mandel Kramer played Johnny Dollar in the
final broadcast.

Arthur William Matthew “Art” Carney
(November 4, 1918 – November 9, 2003)
Art Carney is best known for playing Ed Norton, opposite Jackie Gleason‘s
Ralph Kramden in the situation comedy The Honeymooners on the CBS
television network from 1955 to 1956.
Art Carney stars as a department store Santa in the Twilight Zone
episode “Night Of The Meek” (1960)
MUSIC MAGAZINE DEBUTED ON THIS DAY IN 1967
Rolling Stone was founded in San Francisco, CA by Jann Wenner, who is still the magazine’s chief editor, and music critic, Ralph J. Gleason. The cover featured a
photo of John Lennon from his movie, How I Won The War.
Wenner borrowed $7,500 from his family members and his soon-to-be wife, Michell Palmer to start the publication. The magazine was named after the Muddy Waters
1950 song “Rollin’ Stone”.
