H. H. Windsor, and has been owned since 1958 by the
Hearst Corporation. There are nine international editions. Popular
Mechanics
features regular sections on automotive, home, science,

Johnnie Ray
(January 10, 1927 – February 24, 1990)

John Alvin Ray was born in Dallas, Oregon, spending part of his
childhood on a farm, with parents Elmer and Hazel Ray and older
sister Elma Ray. He attended grade school there and eventually
moved to Portland, Oregon, where he attended high school. Ray
was extremely popular as a singer / songwriter, and pianist for 
most of the 1950s.

SINGER/SONGWRITER BORN ON THIS DAY IN 1943

James Joseph "Jim" Croce (January 10, 1943 – September 20, 1973)

Croce was a prolific singer/songwriter who wrote hits in the 70s, such as ‘Bad, Bad 
Leroy Brown’, and ‘Time in a Bottle’. He died tragically in a plane crash the day
after his song, ‘I Got a Name’, was released.

Rod Stewartnow

Roderick David "Rod" Stewart is 68 today. He is one of the best selling
artists of all time, having sold over 100 million records worldwide. He has
had sixteen top ten singles with four of them reaching number-on on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2008, Billboard ranked him the 17th most successful
artist on their Top All-Time Artists list. Stewart was inducted into the
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.
