Rolling Stone magazine ranked “Brown Sugar” #495 on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time and at #5 on their list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Songs of All Time.

Billboard magazine reported that "The Ballad of Davy Crockett" was the most
popular song in the United States. Four versions of the song made the Billboard
charts. The original was sung by Fess Parker, followed by Bill Hayes, Tennessee
Ernie Ford, and bluegrass singer Mac Wiseman. Total combined sales of all the
versions reached more than 18 million copies sold.
