John Sebastian, who left The Lovin’ Spoonful for a solo career in 1968, hit the top of Billboard Magazine’s Hot 100 chart with the theme to the TV show, Welcome Back Kotter. He said he wrote the song in 15 minutes. The record also topped the Easy Listening chart and reached number 93 on the Country chart.
Kenneth Nathaniel Taylor (May 8, 1917 – June 10, 2005)
Taylor was a publisher and author, better known as the creator of the The Living Bible and the founder of Tyndale House, a Christian publishing company and Living Bibles International.
Taylor was born in Portland, Oregon. His parents were George and Charlotte Huff Taylor. His father was a Presbyterian minister.
Kenneth graduated in 1934 from Beaverton High School in the town of Beaverton, Oregon. He then enrolled at Wheaton College in Illinois where he graduated in 1938. In 1940, Taylor began work on a Th D. at Dallas Theological Seminary in Texas, finishing his theological degree at Northern Baptist Seminary in Illinois.
Taylor finished the entire Bible in contemporary language and published it as The Living Bible in 1971.
