FOLK ARTIST BORN ON THIS DAY IN 1860
“Grandma Moses” (Anna Mary Robertson Moses)
(September 7, 1860 – December 13, 1961)
Moses began her artistic career working with embroidery around the house,
until her seventies when her sisters suggested she try painting instead. She
was issued the premiere Moore College of Art’s honorary doctorate.

YOUNGEST PLAYER ON THIS DAY IN 1943
Carl Scheib, 1952 Topps, Card # 116
Scheib of the Philadelphia Athletics was youngest player to debut
in an American League baseball game. He was 16 years, eight
months and five days old. He led the American League in Wild
Pitches (9) in 1950 and was one of the best hitting pitchers of
his time. Carl Alvin Scheib turned 86 on January 1st.
