The first edition (above) featured a cover piece about the film
‘How I Won The War’, starring the Beatle John Lennon.

Rolling Stone magazine began as a music magazine that embraced the
hippie culture of the 1960s. It was founded in San Francisco, California,
by Jann Wenner – who is still the magazine’s chief editor – and music
critic, Ralph J. Gleason.
