The first balloon in 1927 was modeled after the character Felix the Cat
Mickey Mouse made his grand debut in the Macy’s Santa Claus Parade
(now Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade) in 1934.
On September 28, 1789, George Washington, in his first term as U.S. President, was
presented with a resolution by the First Federal Bicameral Congress asking that he
recommend to the nation a day of thanksgiving. A few days later, Washington issued
a proclamation making Thursday, Nov. 26, 1789 as a “Day of Publick Thanksgiving,”
which was the first time Thanksgiving was celebrated under the Constitution.
"Are You Lonesome Tonight", a ballad that was written in 1926 and first
recorded by Al Jolson. It became Elvis Presley‘s 14th number one hit and
stayed on top for a total of six weeks.
Guitarist Scotty Moore played Elvis` Gibson model J200 acoustic guitar on
the recording.
