Kenneth Ronald “Ken” Berry

Berry is a sitcom actor, dancer and singer. Berry has had success in many television shows, one being with his friend and mentor, Andy Griffith. Berry starred in the very
successful comedies F Troop on ABC (1965-1967) , The Andy Griffith Show spin-off
on CBS Mayberry R.F.D.(1968-1971), and The Carol Burnett Show spin-off Mama’s Family on NBC from 1983-1984 and syndication from 1986-1990. He also appeared
on Broadway.

PROBE LAUNCHED ON THIS DAY IN 1973

Mariner 10 was a robotic space probe launched by NASA to fly by the
planets Mercury
and Venus. It was launched approximately two years 
after
Mariner 9 and was the last spacecraft in the Mariner program.

Jay Black (David Blatt)

A Brooklyn native, Jay was the lead singer of the band “Jay and the Americans in
the 1960s.
The band had numerous hits including "Cara Mia", "Come a Little Bit
Closer
", and  "This Magic Moment". 

As the result of mounting debts, Black sold his ownership of the name "Jay and the 
Americans" to Sandy Deanne, Black’s former band mate and original member of 
the group, for $100,000 in 2006. Black now performs solely under his stage name.
