MARY TYLER MOORE IS 77 TODAY
Moore is primarily known for her roles in television sitcoms such
as The Mary Tyler Moore Show on CBS from 1970 to 1977.
SCHOOL ENDED ON THIS DAY IN 1956
Ding Dong School, known as "the nursery school of the air", was a half-hour
children’s television show which began November 24, 1952 on WNBQ-TV
(now WMAQ-TV) in Chicago, Illinois a few months before its four-year run
on NBC.
A precursor to both Sesame Street and Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, the
show was hosted live by “Miss Frances" (above). At one point it was the most
popular TV series aimed at preschoolers.
