LAWMAN BORN ON THIS DAY IN 1848
Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp (March 19, 1848 – January 13, 1929)
Earp was a gambler, Pima County Deputy Sheriff, and Deputy Town
Marshal in Tombstone, Arizona, and was in the Gunfight at the O.K.
Corral during which lawmen killed three outlaw Cowboys. The gunfight,
which lasted just 30-seconds, defined the rest of his life. Before fame,
Wyatt Earp had worked as a farmer, miner, and boxing referee.
CHARLEY PRIDE IS 76 TODAY
Pride is one of the few African-American country musicians to have had
considerable success in the country music industry and only the second
African American to have been inducted as a member of the Grand Ole
Opry. He has garnered 39 No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot Country Songs
charts. Before fame, Pride was a pitcher for the New York Yankees’ minor
league team.

SOUL STAR BORN ON THIS DAY IN 1941
Wilson Pickett (March 18, 1941 – January 19, 2006)
Pickett was major figure in soul music, recording over 50 songs which
hit the R&B charts, and frequently crossed over to the Billboard Hot
100. Among his best known hits are "In the Midnight Hour", "Land of
1,000 Dances", "Mustang Sally", and "Funky Broadway”. He was a
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee in 1991.
