Waylon Arnold Jennings (June 15, 1937 – February 13, 2002)
Jennings began playing guitar at 8 and later performing radio at 12. He
narrated the original The Dukes of Hazzard on CBS television from 1979
to 1985. Jennings died in his sleep of diabetic complications in Chandler,
Arizona.
On Friday night, Trebek claimed the Guinness World Record for "most game show episodes hosted by the same presenter." He has presided over Jeopardy! since
1984, hosting a total of 6,829 episodes. In the past three decades, Jeopardy! has
won 30 Emmy Awards, a record for a game show. Last year, TV Guide named the
syndicated series the greatest game show of all time.
