COMIC STRIP DEBUTED ON THIS DAY IN 1924
Little Orphan Annie was a daily comic strip created by Harold Gray and was syndicated by Tribune Media Services. The strip took its name from the
1885 poem "Little Orphant Annie" by James Whitcomb Riley, and made its
debut in the New York Daily News.
FORMER PRESS SECRETARY HAS DIED AT 73

James Scott "Jim" Brady (August 29, 1940 – August 4, 2014)
James Brady, the former White House press secretary who survived
being shot in the head during the 1981 assassination attempt on
President Ronald Reagan, died today.
Brady was seriously injured by the assassination attempt and had
been confined to a wheelchair after the incident.
