John Herschel Glenn, Jr. was born in Cambridge, Ohio.

Astronaut and senator John Glenn was the first American to orbit the Earth
in 1962 and in 1998 became the oldest person to go to space. He was a
recipient of the Congressional Space Medal of Honor and Presidential
Medal of Freedom among several other distinctions.

Ricky Lee Skaggs is 61 years old today.

Ricky won numerous Grammy and Country Music Association
Awards, with his first Grammy coming in 1983 for Fireball and
his first CMA recognition coming in 1982 when he was named
Male Vocalist of the Year.

Richard Bernard "Red" Skelton (July 18, 1913 – September 17, 1997)

Skelton was known as a TV clown who portrayed many comical characters
such as Clem Kadiddlehopper and Freddie the Freeloader. He was a long-
time national radio and television star for 34 years. Following the death of
his father, Red first started work at the age of seven as a newspaper boy
and later auditioned at the age of 10 for a role in a medicine show.
