DR. APPOINTED ON THIS DAY IN 1960


Janet Graeme Travell, M.D. (December 17, 1901 – August 1, 1997)

When John F. Kennedy won the Presidential race in 1960, he appointed 
Dr. Janet G. Travell as his personal physician. She was the first woman
appointed to the position. She continued to serve as Personal Physician
to the President following the assassination of Kennedy, with his successor
Lyndon B. Johnson through his re-election, but decided to leave the White
House in 1965.
