The track “Yesterday” was recorded at Abbey Road Studios immediately
following the taping of "I’m Down", and four days before McCartney’s 23rd
birthday. McCartney’s vocal and acoustic guitar, together with a string
quartet, essentially made for the first solo performance of the band.
