Winnie-the-Pooh is the first volume of stories about Winnie-
the-Pooh, by A. A. Milne (below).

Milne named the character Winnie-the-Pooh for a teddy bear owned by
his son, Christopher Robin Milne, who was the basis for the character
Christopher Robin. The rest of Christopher Robin Milne’s toys, Piglet,
Eeyore, Kanga, Roo and Tigger, were incorporated into Milne’s stories.

Harry Lillis "Bing" Crosby, Jr. (May 3, 1903 – October 14, 1977)

"Swinging on a Star" was introduced by Bing Crosby in the 1944 film Going My Way, winning an Academy Award for Best Original Song that year, and has been recorded
by numerous artists since then. In 2004 it finished at #37 in AFI’s 100 Years…100

Sir Roger George Moore

Roger Moore replaced Sean Connery as James Bond in 1973, and won
a Monte Carlo TV Festival Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004. His other
major works include Ivanhoe (1958-1959), Maverick (1961), and The Saint
(1961-1969), where he played Simon Templar.

Paul Frederic Simon is 75 today.

Paul Simon met Art Garfunkel while performing in Alice
in Wonderland for their sixth grade graduation and they
went on to perform at school dances together.

William Bennett Kilpack (February 6, 1883 – August 17, 1962)

Mr. Keen, Tracer of Lost Persons was one of radio’s longest running shows,
airing October 12, 1937 to April 19, 1955, continuing well into the television
era. It was produced by Frank and Anne Hummert, who based it upon Robert
W. Chambers‘ 1906 novel The Tracer of Lost Persons. The sponsors included
Whitehall Pharmacal (makers of Anacin), Dentyne, Aerowax, RCA Victor and
Chesterfield cigarettes. It aired on the NBC Blue network until 1947, when it
switched to CBS.

Bennett Kilpack (above) began as Mr. Keen in 1937 with Arthur Hughes and
then Phil Clarke stepping into the role later in the series.
