(ABC NEWS) – Eccentric fitness guru Richard Simmons, known
for his unrelenting positivity, has died, according to his
representative.
Simmons just celebrated his 76th birthday on Friday.
The Los Angeles Police Department responded to his home after
a 911 call from his housekeeper and found Simmons dead,
according to police sources.
The sources said Simmons appears to have died of natural
causes, and no foul play is suspected.
(FOX NEWS) – Dr. Ruth Westheimer, the famous sex therapist
and media personality, has passed away at the age of 96.
Westheimer died on Friday surrounded by her family in New
York City, according to her publicist.
Known for her frank discussions of sexual topics and amusing
candor, Westheimer has appeared on numerous late-night talk
shows and authored multiple best-selling books.
Westheimer was born in Germany to a Jewish family. As the
Nazis came to power, her parents sent the ten-year-old girl to
a school in Switzerland for safety, remaining behind themselves
because of her elderly grandmother.
They were both subsequently sent to concentration camps by
the Gestapo, where they were killed.
In Los Angeles, California, Senator John F. Kennedy of
Massachusetts was nominated for the presidency by the
Democratic Party Convention, defeating Senator Lyndon
B. Johnson of Texas. The next day, Johnson was named
Kennedy’s running mate by a unanimous vote of the
convention.
Four months later, on November 8, Kennedy won 49.7
percent of the popular vote in one of the closest elections
for president in U.S. history, surpassing by a fraction the
49.6 percent received by Vice President Richard M. Nixon,
a Republican.
Ford is known for his portrayal of the titular character in the
popular media franchise Indiana Jones, beginning with the
action-adventure film Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981). He
played the character in four additional sequels over the
next four decades and also starred as Rick Deckard in the
cult science fiction film Blade Runner (1982) and its sequel
Blade Runner 2049 (2017), and portrayed Jack Ryan in the
spy thriller films Patriot Games (1992) and Clear and Present
Danger (1994).
