Tom (Thomas Jeffrey) Hanks is one of the most

Hanks’ films have grossed more than $4.9 billion
in North America and more than $9.96 billion
worldwide, making him the fourth-highest-grossing
actor in North America. He has received numerous
honors including the AFI Life Achievement Award
in 2002, the Kennedy Center Honor in 2014, the
Presidential Medal of Freedom and the French
Legion of Honor both in 2016, as well as the Golden
Globe Cecil B. DeMille Award in 2020.

On July 6, 1994, the movie Forrest Gump opened in U.S.
theaters. A huge box-office success, the film starred Tom
Hanks in the title role of Forrest, a good-hearted man with
a low I.Q. who winds up at the center of key cultural and
historical events of the second half of the 20th century.

Forrest Gump was based on a 1986 novel of the same
name by Winston Groom, who (like his main character)
grew up in Alabama and served in the Army during
Vietnam.

Alan Wolf Arkin (March 26, 1934 – June 29, 2023)

Oscar winner Alan Arkin, whose background in improvisation 
with characters from the 1960s comedy “The Russians Are
Coming, the Russians Are Coming”, “Glengarry Glen Ross”
to “Little Miss Sunshine”, and “Argo,” died at his home in
Carlsbad, California Thursday at age 89. He had a history
of  heart problems.
