Packy was born April 14, 1962. He’s an Asian elephant at the Oregon Zoo, Portland Zoological Gardens at the time, in Portland, Oregon. Packy is famous for having
been the first elephant born in the Western Hemisphere in 44 years. Currently, he
is the oldest male Asian elephant in North America.

Dan Haggerty (November 19, 1941 – January 15, 2016)

Haggerty was best known for the title role in The Life and Times of Grizzly
Adams on NBC. He also played Jeremiah—a modern day version of Grizzly
Adams—in the films Grizzly Mountain (1997) and Escape to Grizzly Mountain 
(2000). According to his manager the ’70s star died of cancer surrounded by
his kids. Haggerty had been battling cancer of the spine since last year.

The sitcom first aired in syndication from January 5 to July 2, 1961,
and then on CBS from October 1, 1961, to February 6, 1966. The
show is one of the few series to debut in syndication and be picked
up by a major network for prime time.

Comedian George Burns financed the original pilot for Mister Ed
which was shot at his McCadden Studio in Hollywood at a cost
of $70,000. Scott McKay played Wilbur. Jack Benny was also
involved in the production behind the scenes.

The show Lassie was the fourth longest-running primetime television series
after The Simpsons, Gunsmoke, and Law & Order. It  received critical favor
at its debut and won two Emmy Awards in its first years. Stars Jan Clayton
and June Lockhart were nominated for Emmys.

It took Elvis Presley 31 takes to get just the right version of "Hound Dog" on
acetate. The record became the most successful two-sided hit on Billboard’s
Top/Hot 100 chart. The two titles spent a combined 55 weeks in the Top 100
in 1956-1957.
